CS Music Society: CarmenCo - A Pocket Opera

Chipping Sodbury Town Hall

The last concert of Chipping Sodbury Music Society’s 2023–2024 season.

A programme of gorgeous Spanish-inspired music for guitars, flute and voice, CarmenCo is more than a concert: it occupies the borders between a play and a concert, with 80/20 music to spoken word.

It is a concert of Spanish and Spanish inspired music presented as a play, with costumes, props and a storyline which roughly follows the story of Bizet's opera Carmen, but told from her point of view. Dare you consult the cards with her? What does she think of the men in her story? Did she foresee her gruesome ending? And does she like the opera Bizet wrote about her?

Come and find out!

It will be different from our usual arrangement of concerts "in the round". CarmenCo will be using the stage, and circulating around the audience.

The audience will be sitting round tables in the hall, with nut-free nibbles provided on the tables, and audience members will be able to bring their drinks into the hall. We think this will provide a suitable ambience for this concert.

CarmenCo trio was formed when international solo guitarist Francisco Correa joined the Andrews-Massey Duo.

Tickets £18 on the door (school aged children FREE) or membership for the 2022-23 season costs £85.00. This equals just over £12 per concert.
